The Māori Land Court has jurisdiction to hear matters relating to Māori land including successions, title improvements, Māori land sales, and the administration of Māori land trusts and Incorporations. It also has jurisdiction to hear cases under the Māori Fisheries Act 2004, the Māori Commercial Aquaculture Claims Settlement Act 2004 and a number of other statutes.

Nga Potiki a Tamapahore (better known as ‘Nga Potiki’) are the descendants of our eponymous ancestor, Tamapahore.  A renowned 14th Century leader and warrior, he led his own people and the descendants of his half brother, Te Rangihouhiri, into Tauranga Moana as part of Te heke a Ngai Te Rangihouhiri, later known as Ngai Te Rangi.

Our Iwi or Tribe is Tauranga Moana based with our principal localities including Tauranga, Mt Maunganui, Papamoa, Welcome Bay, Katikati, Bowentown, Rangiwaea, Matakana, Motiti and Tuhua(Mayor) Islands.
