Strategic Communications and Engagement Manager

Farming was their initial business interest, but the portfolio has grown to now include kiwifruit orchards, housing, industrial development and retirement villages. The growth has been steady but is looking to increase significantly over the next ten years. Hence, they are seeking a Communications and Engagement Manager to help engage with their shareholders and provide strategic and operational leadership to the communications and engagement function.

This role sits on the senior leadership team and has one direct report. The responsibilities include:

• Develop, implement, and maintain an operating model for the communications and engagement function including Communication Strategy, Engagement Framework, Channel Strategy and Media Policy.
• Ensure widespread buy-in to the operating model and keep the senior leadership team up to speed on progress.
• Provide effective management and leadership that ensures the team’s work programme is delivered on time and fit for purpose.
• Develop a stakeholder engagement plan that all senior leaders are confident to use.

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

• Previous experience leading and managing a Communications team.
• Experience managing and leading projects.
• Experience in several areas of operational communications such as media management and relations, internal communications, and stakeholder engagement.
• Ideally communications experience in a public sector/regulatory environment.
• Experience in business management and managing internal and external relationships.
